Pacific Helmets design and manufacture high-quality composite helmets for emergency services around the world. They are looking for a talented Product Engineer to take ownership of released product platforms, support engineering change activities, maintain product configuration integrity and drive ongoing product improvement. This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, based in Whanganui.

About the Role
You'll work within Pacific Helmet's product development and manufacturing environment, managing released product configurations, engineering BOMs, CAD assemblies, drawings, specifications and release records. You'll work closely with Quality, Production, Supply Chain, and Certification teams to ensure product changes are controlled, implemented, traceable and suitable for manufacture and certification.

This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who enjoys working collaboratively to improve real products, seeing engineering changes through to production, and applying structured problem-solving techniques.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Own and maintain product configurations, engineering BOMs, drawings, specifications and approved materials.
  • Create and update CAD models, assemblies, drawings and technical documentation.
  • Investigate product, supplier and manufacturing issues using structured problem-solving and root cause analysis.
  • Maintain product release records, requirements traceability and configuration control throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Assess supplier, material and component changes, support testing and certification, and drive product standardisation and rationalisation.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Production, Supply Chain, and Certification teams to support successful product outcomes.

What You'll Bring

  • 3-5 years' engineering experience in a manufacturing environment operating under ISO 9001 quality systems.
  • Strong capability with CAD, engineering drawings, BOMs and product structures.
  • Experience with engineering change process, revision control and configuration management.
  • Familiarity with PDM/ERP systems and controlled documentation.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of manufacturing, quality, and certification requirements.
