Plant Nursery Manager

Reporting to the General Manager Infrastructure, you'll lead the operation and growth of Council's Plant Nursery. Managing people, production and assets, you'll also build key relationships with councils, government agencies, iwi and key stakeholders to create new opportunities and increase nursery demand. Your success will help drive future growth and strengthen the nursery's regional impact.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Grow the nursery through new partnerships and business opportunities
  • Build strong relationships with councils, government agencies, iwi and contractors
  • Lead nursery operations, production planning and stock management
  • Manage budgets, assets, systems and resources
  • Deliver proposals, quotations and outstanding customer service
  • Lead, develop and support a high-performing team
  • Promote the nursery's environmental and community impact

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven success in business development, sales and relationship management
  • Relevant horticulture qualification and nursery, horticulture or plant production experience
  • Strong leadership and people management capability
  • Commercially astute with experience managing budgets, resources and delivering customer-focused outcomes
  • Highly self-managing, with the initiative to identify opportunities, take ownership and drive results
  • Current Growsafe Certificate and full driver's licence
