Communications & PR Lead (12 months fixed term)

We are looking for an experienced communications professional to take the lead in planning and execution, content development, and media relations for the organisation. You will have exceptional organisational skills and thrive in a multi stakeholder environment. We need you to be a strategic thinker and clever content writer with experience in all aspects of communication to ensure the right message is delivered to the right people… at the right time. Your ability to provide strategic advice on public relations and communications will be called upon to actively manage media requests and opportunities ensuring proactive publicity. A keen interest in the region is important, along with a curiosity for how regions grow and evolve, and you'll keep up to date across news, insights and emerging trends (both locally and nationally).
This is a 12 month fixed term position covering Parental Leave

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead role in CEDA's Communications Strategy planning and implementation
- Provide strategic advice on public relations and communications, including speech writing
- Develop and communicate compelling stories for the Manawatū region and priority initiatives, that positions Manawatū as a great place to visit, live, work and invest
- Content creation for CEDA's communication channels, leveraging identified opportunities, and ensuring alignment with broader regional narratives and priorities
- Writing and producing media releases and identifying media opportunities
- Management of corporate social media channels and website, including content and narrative development
- Proactive and reactive public relations and media management
- Develop and maintain relationships with key media and stakeholders
SKILLS & EXPERIANCE:
- Proven experience as communications or content specialist
- Exceptionally well organised and experience working in a multi stakeholder environment
- Strategic thinker - ability to provide strategic advice on public relations and communications
- A clever copywriter and content creator- from creative through to strategic
- Experience managing media requests
- A keen interest in the Manawatū region and economic development
- Relevant communications and/or journalism tertiary qualification (or equivalent experience)
- Ability to clearly communicate to a multitude of audiences
