Awatapu College is recognised as one of the leading schools in New Zealand for not only their academic teachings but also for their International Department and their Special Needs teachings, which all offer total care and on-going support.
Awatapu College is seeking a dedicated and professional Student Support Officer who is a dependable, detail-oriented person who enjoys helping others and working together to achieve great results. You'll bring a professional approach, strong time management, and a knack for solving problems logically and calmly - even when things get busy.
The role involves working 37.5 hours per week during term time, with regular hours from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm with a 30 minute lunch break. You may be required to work one extra week at the end of Term 4 and again at the start of term one being after Wellington Anniversary weekend.
Occasionally, there might be some evening work for events like Open Night or Interview Evenings. You may also need to work extra hours or days during the school holidays to keep things running smoothly, however extra hours would be paid accordingly.
Key Tasks:
- Managing student attendance and accurately record, maintain, and update data using Google Docs, Excel, Kamar Portal and other digital systems
- Monitor and manage the sick bay by providing first aid care and maintaining a clean, well-organised sick bay environment
- Manage the uniform cupboard by organising stock, track inventory and distribute items as needed
- Plan, organise and prioritise daily workloads to ensure all objectives and deadlines are achieved efficiently
- Communicate effectively with team members, staff, caregivers and students to share information and resolve issues
- Provide support in operational or administrative tasks, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail
Responsibilities:
- Adhering to school policies and professional behaviour expectations.
- Ensuring tasks are completed accurately and courteously, reflecting well on the College.
- Upholding confidentiality and ethical practices in all dealings.
- Supporting a positive, respectful team environment and taking initiative to improve service.
- Presenting a clean and professional image at all times.
As you will be the dedicated sick bay officer, having a valid First Aid Certificate would be beneficial, though not essential, as the successful candidate will be provided with the necessary training. You will ideally hold a full clean licence as you may be required from time to time to visit caregivers homes to support with transport requirements. Due to this role being within the education sector, passing a Police Vetting Application is also required.
If you are a professional and organised individual with a passion for supporting education and student care, we would love to hear from you. Apply now to join the team at Awatapu College!
