Sector Development Senior

About the Sector Development Senior.

Reporting to the Business Development Manager you will be a key part of the Business Development Team.  Your primary responsibility will involve executing objectives outlined in sector development strategies and initiatives in the visitor/tourism sector.  In this role, you will provide support and facilitate growth for existing operators and attracting new opportunities to the region in the visitor sector, and also for other key sectors of strength in the region such as, Health, and Education. 


You will be required to proactively seek out opportunities and develop relationships with key stakeholders and strategic partners in the region.  This will include activities such as prospecting potential inward investments, enhancing labour market and attracting and retaining talent and skills.  

What we are looking for in you:

  • Experience in a sector or business development role - ideally the visitor/tourism sector or  working in a similar role within the economic development space
  • Bachelor's degree in business or similar, or equivalent previous experience
  • Ability to build strong professional networks and relationships
  • The ability to plan, lead and support programs and projects
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • The ability to research and analyse data to form plans and advice to support decision making
  • Project management experience including budget management
  • Able to work outside of usual business hours including evening and weekends on occasion
