ABOUT THE ROLE: 

 
Fixed term contract providing outstanding coordination and organisational support to the local office of the Crown Solicitor. Based in central Palmerston North, this is an 'in office' position, welcomed and supported by a team of 11. Best suited to someone agile, detail focused and confident.

RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Liaise between the Police, the Courts, and Defence Counsel on behalf of the Crown Prosecutors in your office
  • Arrange and schedule trials
  • Format and collate relevant court documents
  • Maintain electronic files, filter email communications and incoming calls
  • This role's responsibilities will mean exposure to files and information of a sensitive and confidential nature

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Agile and resilient - this role is fast paced with an ever changing priority list, including urgent court-imposed deadlines. You will need to keep a level head under pressure
  • Organised and accurate - attention to detail is hugely important
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to confidently interact with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Proactive, with a logical, solution-based approach

ABOUT THE ORGANISATION:

BVA The Practice, is a specialised law firm of experienced court lawyers looking after private clients in disputes and is the Office of the Crown Solicitor in Palmerston North. They prosecute serious crime in the Manawatū, Tararua and Horowhenua regions. They work closely with Police, Ministry of Justice, the Courts, Defence Counsel and other organisations that support the Justice network, ensuring the values and requirements of the New Zealand Justice System are upheld. This is one exciting opportunity to support and learn about their important work.
