About the Opportunity

We are working with a local high school that is looking for a hands on Caretaker Assistant to work with their Head Caretaker and assist with the maintenance of the property and buildings.

This role offers variety as no two days will be the same, however you will also have regular duties that need to be completed daily. This is a position of responsibility and reliability with hours being 8.30am to 5.00pm (including 30 minutes lunch). There will be times when you will have to start early, being 7am, however you would finish at 3pm, when this flexibility is required.

Duties include:

• Unlocking/locking the gates, opening doors and locking at night
• Turning on/off the lights and heaters
• Getting the facilities ready for staff and students AND checking for any maintenance, vandalism or other adhoc requirements
• Liaising with cleaning staff, ground staff, gardening contractors and others as required
• Maintaining tools and machinery as required e.g. greasing tractors and mowers
• Ground keeping duties
• A good role model for students during the day

About the Person
We are looking for a positive and responsible person who will demonstrate reliability, punctuality, trustworthiness and show enthusiasm. You will be assertive and be a logical thinker, as day-to-day matters do occur and it will be about how you deal with them that makes you efficient in your role.

Naturally you will pass Pre Employment Checks for education environments (e.g. police, drug and alcohol checks), and you will need to hold a full driver's licence.

You must be PC friendly, as you do need to check emails and manage an electronic diary. You may also come from a trade background which would be an advantage to the nature of the position.

This is a temporary opportunity starting ASAP and is a great opportunity to prove yourself suitable for a full-time permanent position.
