Economic Development Manager

As the Economic Development Manager, you will be responsible for the strategic leadership, planning and execution of economic and business development work undertaken by the Central Economic Development Agency (CEDA).

What you need to know about the Organisation:

CEDA is jointly owned and funded by the Manawatu District Council and the Palmerston North City Council. It has an independent board with years of governance and industry experience who are fully committed to driving positive business, social and environmental outcomes for the region.

The team are a passionate group of people with expertise in marketing, communications, events, and business attraction, retention and development. Collectively, they are the enablers, the connectors and the doers; leading the economic development of the region we call home.

 

Your key areas of Responsibility under the guidance of the Chief Executive will be:

  • Leading, developing and delivering CEDA’s Economic and Business Development Strategies
  • Providing effective leadership and oversight to the Business Development team
  • Developing detailed project plans and having extensive insight into existing initiatives in the region
  • Talent and skills attraction and retention strategies for the Manawatu
  • Researching and identifying gaps in key sectors in collaboration with industry partners
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders

 

What we are looking for in you:

  • Experience in the development and implementation of strategic plans
  • Extensive project management experience
  • Experience in team leadership and contractor management
  • The ability to build and maintain strong professional networks and relationships
  • Strong personal integrity and high level of professionalism
  • Positive contribution to the CEDA objectives and team environment
